And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb
and because of the word of their testimony,
and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

Kathy Ortiz's Story
Jehovah El Ne'eman (God is Faithful & Trust Worthy)
God’s Faithfulness Through Pain and Healing
Hi, my name is Kathy Ortiz, and it’s an honor to share
how faithful God has been—even in the hardest seasons of my life.
I received Jesus as a little girl, but it was at the age of 16 that I fully
surrendered to Him.
That’s when I began seeking God’s plans and purposes for my life.
At 25, I got married. It was not what I had hoped for.
My husband was emotionally closed off... and unfaithful.
After 8 painful years, our marriage ended.
In the wake of that, I turned to God for healing.
And it wasn't just about the divorce—it was about wounds from long before.
I had grown up watching my mother be mistreated and abused by my stepfather.
God began to show me that true healing required forgiveness.
That meant releasing the judgments I had made—against men,
against my past, even against myself. Through His grace,
I forgave my stepfather… and my ex-husband. And that forgiveness set me free.
About five years later, God brought Sam into my life. He was a gift—kind, loving, fun. We were both musicians and singers, and our connection was clearly God-ordained. We shared 19 beautiful years of marriage.
But after 18 years together, Sam was diagnosed with cancer. Six months later, he went home to be with the Lord.
That grief—it was the deepest pain I’ve ever felt. But even there… even in the valley… Jesus met me.
I pressed into the Holy Spirit more than I ever had. I cried out. And in return, God poured His peace over me. He gave me hope. He gave me strength. He became my hiding place… my Secret Place.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned comes from Luke 10. When Martha was overwhelmed and frustrated, Jesus said to her:
“Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things… but only one thing is needed.” (Luke 10:41–42)
Mary had chosen the better thing—sitting at His feet. That’s what I’ve learned to do. To sit at Jesus’ feet. To receive His peace, His comfort, and His joy.
Friends, God is faithful. He has healed me, restored me, and filled me again with joy. And He can do the same for you.
